Commando-Sales is Vic Ranczynski delivering practical hands-on sales, marketing and management consulting to high tech startups.
With a total of more than 20 years of high-technology OEM sales and marketing, Ranczynski has concentrated more than 12 years of this time on early stage and start-up technology companies. He is skilled in strategic business development, marketing and sales force management. Since 2000, he has been a VP at Venture Marketing, where he served a variety of Venture Marketing's high-technology, business-to-business clients. Ranczynski was charged with developing long-term relationships and generating marketing strategies that are both top- and bottom-line focused and that would attract new business to the client's customer base.
Combining a background in corporate finance, engineering, product management and channel and vendor relationship development, Ranczynski focuses on helping early stage companies bring their products and services to the marketplace. He has served emerging businesses across the full spectrum of hardware, software, telecommunications and "dot-com" technologies, relentlessly pursuing and closing sales among targeted accounts.
He joined Venture Marketing from Midwest Technologies, a regional technology sales firm. Prior to that, Ranczynski founded an independent marketing consultancy where he served small technology firms in the telecom software and LAN diagnostic services fields. Ranczynski also served as National Sales Manager for Heurikon Corporation (now Artesyn), one of the leading manufacturers of industrial CPU boards and communication systems, when annual sales were $18 million.
Prior to his entrepreneurial experience, Ranczynski also served as National Sales and Product Marketing Manager for US Robotics where he generated several multi-million dollar OEM contracts, managed the direct sales force and developed a distributor network, building an internal staff of 28 professionals. He also served as Field Sales Engineer for Intel, increasing his account base by 315%, which lead to a position on Intel's specialized systems sales force.
Ranczynski earned his MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of Chicago in 1984, and a BS in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1980.Ranczynski was a National Merit Award recipient.
Areas of Expertise
While at Venture Marketing, Ranczynski has worked with over 40 high tech clients. These ranged from pre-revenue startups, on up to firms with sales in the 10s of millions. Budgets from shoestring up through SBA/SBIR-funded, up to Angel and VC funded.
Ranczynski has also been in the entreprenuers shoes, having been employee #2, #5, #8, #78 and #106. While managing sales and marketing (plus customer service and support departments) for these small companies, he has personally closed contracts in excess of $14M and $34M to Fortune 500 companies. He has created distributor contracts, NDA, sales forecast, cash flow and other general support systems.
